safety gear for ATVs

Some of the best times my family has had include going out into the wild on our ATVs and UTVs. I know that if I want to cheer up one of my teenagers, that all I have to do is go to the garage, start up a machine and rev it up a few times. As soon as they hear the rumbling of the engine, their troubles fade away and we head out into the woods for a ride. Safety is the most important part of riding for our family. We wear all of the latest safety gear. Find out about safety gear here on my blog.

4 Different Style & Purposes For UTVs

Martin Castillo

A utility task vehicle, often called a UTV side-by-side, is a UTV with two front seats, allowing for a driver and a passenger in the vehicle. Most UTVs have between two to six seats, allowing for the transportation of passengers and goods. When it comes to shopping for UTVs, it is essential to understand the different available styles.

Style #1: Farming

A UTV that is made for farming and ranching is designed to be an all-over work vehicle that can handle just about anything. It generally has a larger payload and towing capacity, allowing for more significant usage for work.

The cargo box on the back has a power lift, which makes it easier to haul around things such as gravel or bales of hay. With a power lift, you can easily raise up and dump the contents of whatever you are pulling with you.

A framing UTV also generally has higher clearance, allowing you to take the UTV over a variety of terrain and event through streams as well. As a farming UTV has a lot of usages, the cab is usually made a little nicer, with windshields and even a roof, to keep you dry and safe when working all day.

You can also add accessories onto the vehicle, such as a sprayer or front-loading tool, to allow you to get more done.

Style #2: Family

A family UTV is one that is designed for having fun. It generally has more seats, around four to six, so that you can put the whole family in the UTV and have some fun. With this type of machine, you will get roll bars, windshields, and doors so that you can enjoy a safe riding experience.

UTVs that are made for families are all about the extra seating and safety, allowing for multiple people to take on a trail for the day in a fun and safe manner.

Style #3: Hunting

If you want to go hunting in your UTV, a hunting style is perfect for you. With a hunting UTV, you will want to look for one that has a camo print so that you will blend in with the environment. You will want to look for one that has a lot of space for hauling cargo so that you can haul all of your gear with you, and if you take down an animal, you will be able to haul it out of the background.

You will also want to look for a UTV with a good towing capacity, so if you want, you can tow a trailer to bring all of your cargo with you in one trip.

Style #4: Trail Riding

One popular style of UTVs is made for trail riding. Trail riding models are generally narrower models, allowing you to take your UTV down smaller trails. With trail riding, you will want a unit with higher clearance so you can navigate obstacles better. You will also want to have an onboard GPS so you know where you are going. A winch is also a great feature, so if you get stuck, you can get out.

When it comes to purchasing a UTV, think about what you want to use it for, as that will impact the style of UTV you are buying and the accessories and features you will need it to have.
